Older Adult Activities Program

Older Adults groups and activities include God’s Mature Adults, a social group that plans 8 or 9 activities per year.  These meetings are scheduled in the summer and the program is sent to all members over the age of 60.  Usually this is sent in August for the year ahead.  There are no planned activities during the summer months.

This year’s officers include Sandy Baatz and Alice Witte.  Other members of the planning committee are Jan Hoffmann and Doris Martin.  Art Wenzel is the Staff liaison for the Older Adults and God’s mature adults.

Another older adult activity is Lunch with a Staff Member.  Currently, this group meets on the first Monday of the month at Ziano’s restaurant at Chapel Ridge from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Each month we meet with a different staff member to get to know them a little better.  We ask you to sign up for this so that we have a count for the restaurant.  If you forget and wish to join us, we can always add people on the day of the event.

A new activity that is being started is Older Adult Topics.   This will be announced as we get speakers and programs lined up that should hold the interest of older persons.  The current series is being offered from the Alzheimer’s Association with two presentations.  We begin with a lunch for $5.00 followed by the topic.  The first presentation is the 10 warning signs of Alzheimer’s.  It will be followed by a presentation on how to deal with Alzheimer’s.

As we grow the Older Adult ministries, many more things that should help older adults thrive in their retirement years.  The future is open to all kinds of ideas from the older adults.
