Devotion, Potluck, Games

Sunday, April 19th 5-7 pm

Men of all ages, young and old, are invited to gather for an evening of connection, encouragement, and fun at our upcoming Men’s Ministry Gathering on April 19th from 5:00-7:00pm.

We especially encourage fathers, grandfathers, and mentors to bring their sons along. These shared moments matter. They build faith, create memories, and shape the next generation.

The evening will include a short devotion, a potluck meal, and plenty of time for games and conversation. To help make the night enjoyable for everyone, please bring a dish to share and a favorite game, whether it’s a board game, card game, or something active.

Our goal is simple: to bring men together, deepen connections, and enjoy the fellowship God has given us in one another.

How We Got the Bible

How did the books of the Bible come to be recognized as Holy Scripture? In this presentation, we’ll walk through the big-picture story of how the Old and New Testaments were received by God’s people, why some writings were included, and others were not, and what Christians mean when we talk about “the canon.” We’ll touch on key moments in the early Church, clarify common misunderstandings (like the idea that a church council “invented” the Bible), and highlight how the Church received the Scriptures as a gift: anchored in the apostles, proclaimed in worship, and trusted because they bear witness to Jesus Christ. Pastor Danny Eggold serves as Senior Pastor at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. He previously served at Grace Lutheran Church (Lafayette, IN), Concordia Seminary Seminary (St. Louis, MO) as an Admissions Officer, Our Savior's Lutheran Church (Springfield, IL), and Immanuel Lutheran Church (Valparaiso, IN). Pastor Danny is married to Lindsey (a daughter of St. Peter's!), and they have been blesssed with four children. Pastor Eggold and his wife are grateful to be part of the St. Peter’s family.

Being a young person (in your 20s or 30s) in this world can be very difficult, and often we have a hard time knowing which voice to listen to.

At St. Peter's, Young Adults find fellowship with each other as we seek to examine pressing questions in the light of the Word of God. When things are confusing, why not go to the source of all truth and find solace in Jesus Christ.

Coffee Break
