CCHC: Why Does this Matter?
God Working Through His People
Hi, St. Peter's Family,
Over the past couple of weeks, you've heard about our growing partnership with Christian Community Health Care and the ways this ministry cares for people throughout Fort Wayne, but this week I want to pause and talk about something even deeper. Why this matters to us as a church.
At St. Peter's we believe the love of Christ is not meant to stay contained within our walls. God gathers us around His Word and Sacraments, strengthens us in faith, and then sends us back out into our homes, workplaces, schools and community to serve our neighbors in love. That's who the church has always been and that's who we are.
This partnership is more than just an opportunity for us to live out that calling together. Some people will help by offering hospitality, some may greet patients at the front desk, others may listen, encourage or pray with someone who simply needs to know that they are not alone. These may seem like ordinary acts, but God uses ordinary things to do something extraordinary.
As Lutherans we talk about vocation, the idea that God works through his people to care for others. That means your kindness, your presence, your listening ear and your willingness to serve all matter deeply. The weeks ahead we'll continue sharing ways you can learn more and how to become involved, but we want you to begin praying about your place in the CCHC.
As always if you want to know more, check out The Hub at stpetersfw.org or the CCHC video playlist on our YouTube page and peace be with you.
