Be part of worship through Music
The Music Ministry at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church is about to begin another wonderful year of making music together, and we invite you to be a part of it! St. Peter’s musical ensembles provide special music for several worship services throughout the year. Take a look at the opportunities available and prayerfully consider one or more of our musical ensembles. Be assured, it will be a richly rewarding experience as you glorify our Lord with your musical talents. Musical ensembles are open to anyone High School age and up.
- Adult Choir is our choral ensemble and rehearses every Tuesday from 6:30-7:45 pm in Cornerstone Room B. The first rehearsal is on September 8. The choir sings in worship twice a month, usually once at the 8:00am service and once at the 10:30 am service, as well as special services throughout the year, including Reformation, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, &; Easter. We sing a wide variety of music from Baroque to Modern, Spirituals, and Hymn Concertatos. If you like to sing, or even would like to give it a try, please feel free to come to one of our rehearsals! Please enter through Door 9.
- Brass Choir is our instrumental ensemble and rehearses every Monday from 7:00-8:00pm in the sanctuary balcony. The first rehearsal will be on September 14. The ability to read music, as well as proficiency on a brass instrument, is helpful to successfully play in this ensemble. The brass plays in worship at most major church festivals, including Reformation, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Palm Sunday, Easter, and Pentecost. If you are interested in joining, please speak to Mr. Degen prior.
- There has recently been some interest about restarting an Adult Handbell Choir at St. Peter’s. (We currently have a handbell choir for St. Peter’s day school students – Wildcat Bells – but haven’t had an adult handbell choir for several years). Anyone High School age and up who might be interested in getting an adult handbell choir going again, please talk to or email Tim Degen. If you’ve never rung a bell before, or if the bells have always intimidated you, we will teach you all you need to know! Rehearsals will be announced if we get a group of ringers together.
- Instrumentalists are utilized frequently throughout the year as well. If you play ANY instrument, and would like to use your talents to play in worship, we will find a place for you! Please speak to Mr. Degen, and consider using your talents in the musical life of St. Peter’s.
Please email Tim Degen (tdegen@stpetersfw.org) with any questions, and consider giving of your time, talents, and treasures to be a part of this very important ministry at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church!
