Lenten Practices
A Video of Lenten Practices for St. Peter's Members
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we enter Lent, the Church invites us into a simple, life-giving rhythm: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. In these simple practices, we turn back to God, learning to depend on Him again, and letting His mercy shape our lives.
To help you live out the Lenten discipline in a practical way, we’re sharing a short, half-page resource called Lenten Table Talk.
You can pick one up at our Wednesday Lenten services, and you’ll also find them on the worship shelves located outside the sanctuary.
Think of it as a small guide you can use at home (whether you live alone, with roommates, or with family) to keep your days connected to Jesus during this Lenten season.
Each week, these Table Talk sheets will follow the themes from our midweek Lenten series, “Living Waters.” And every week will include:
- a weekly prayer
- a Bible verse to memorize
- a hymn of the week to learn
- a simple mealtime prayer and blessing,
- daily Scripture readings,
- and hands-on ideas to explore the weekly theme through conversation, devotions, service, and simple traditions.
Here’s how to use it: choose what fits your life right now. You might read the daily Scripture at breakfast. You might use the mealtime prayer at dinner. You might pick one service idea for the week. There’s flexibility built in because faith doesn’t look the same in every home.
And one important note: this isn’t something you have to do. But if you’re looking for something to take up during Lent, something to help direct your prayer and devotional time, this is a great place to start.
We’re grateful to walk this season with you.
A blessed Lenten season to you.
