Life Is Often "Plan B"

Staff Potluck Cookout

On Monday, August 5, a core all-staff potluck was planned at Pastor and Heidi Dancy’s home near Grabill, but the stormy-looking weather pivoted this “Back to School” event over to the Cornerstone Room. With a generous Action Team grant from Thrivent, the Preschool, Day School, and Church office staff were treated to a steak, chicken, or brat cookout/potluck where everyone chipped in for a feast. After lunch, each attendee was given a ‘nose flute’ musical instrument to experiment with and master, but we had only about a 50% rate of success! Each group played a song together while the others had to guess the tune. A wild cacophony of whistles, giggles, screams, and laughter ensued, producing Grammy-quality music! Don’t be surprised if we hear a new nose flute musical ensemble playing for church sometime soon.

More silly activities and games followed in the gym employing hula hoops, beach-ball volleyball, and corn hole playoffs. All in all, a good time was had by all! Thanks to the folks who planned the food and fun and did all the heavy lifting, especially Amy Widener, Diana Habegger, Michelle Leahy, Barb Christian, and our Master Chef, Paul Peterson. In the words of Pastor Dancy, “This staff is a real hoot!” And they’re ready to teach your children and grandchildren the wonderful Good News of Jesus and His world in a safe, loving, caring, Christian environment.

Please join us and pray with us as we “re-dedicate” the school staff this weekend at the 5 pm Saturday service and both the 8 & 10:30 am Sunday services.
