How did the books of the Bible come to be recognized as Holy Scripture? In this presentation, we’ll walk through the big-picture story of how the Old and New Testaments were received by God’s people, why some writings were included, and others were not, and what Christians mean when we talk about “the canon.” We’ll touch on key moments in the early Church, clarify common misunderstandings (like the idea that a church council “invented” the Bible), and highlight how the Church received the Scriptures as a gift: anchored in the apostles, proclaimed in worship, and trusted because they bear witness to Jesus Christ.

Sisters in Christ

Throw these dates on your calendar and grab a friend or other St. Peter's Sister as we carve out a little time to know each other beyond the pew. (Have a "thing" you do? Let's get you on the calendar. Let Amy know.)

  • Friday, May 15th @ 6-8 pm for Garage Sale Bingo Say it with me B - I - N - G - O and Bingo was his name-O! It’s free to play, bring a snack to share like normal, and as a bonus you have the option to bring something to donate as a prize, like a fabulous gently used purse, costume jewelry, home decor, or anything in good condition you’ve got lying around the house that just doesn’t belong there anymore. If your donation isn’t “won” we’ll bless it forward to the Seminary Co-op on your behalf. No registration limits on this one so come one, come all! (But do register so we have enough Bingo cards.) Register HERE or call the Church Office.
  • Wednesday, May 27th at 5:00 pm Kekionga Craft Co, 7328 Maysville Rd. Come & go. Enjoy a little fellowship, prayer idea, and grab something to eat if you’d like.
