5-Day Devo
Sermon by Pastor Adam McDowell
Day 1: Unity in Christ
Reading: John 17:20-26
Devotional: Jesus prayed for unity among His followers, a unity rooted in our relationship with Him and the Father. Despite the divisions we see in the world and even in our families, Christ calls us to a deeper unity in faith. Reflect on how you can foster unity in your relationships while staying true to God's Word. How can you be a peacemaker without compromising truth?
Day 2: Standing Firm in Faith
Reading: Hebrews 11:1-16
Devotional: The heroes of faith endured hostility and persecution, yet remained faithful to God. In a world that often opposes Christian values, we're called to stand firm. Consider the areas in your life where you feel pressure to compromise your faith. How can you draw strength from the examples in Hebrews to remain steadfast?
Day 3: God's Presence in Our Struggles
Reading: Psalm 23
Devotional: Even as Jesus spoke of division, He assures us of God's constant presence. The Lord is our shepherd, guiding us through dark valleys. Reflect on a time when you felt God's presence during a difficult period. How can you cultivate a deeper awareness of God's presence in your daily life, especially during times of conflict or division?
Day 4: The Refining Fire of God
Reading: 1 Peter 1:3-9
Devotional: Jesus spoke of casting fire on the earth, which can be seen as a refining process. Our faith, tested by trials, becomes more precious than gold. Consider the challenges you're facing. How might God be using these to refine your faith and character? What impurities is He seeking to remove from your life?
Day 5: Reconciliation and Peace
Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:16-21
Devotional: While Jesus spoke of bringing division, His ultimate mission was reconciliation – bringing humanity back to God. As ambassadors of Christ, we're called to this ministry of reconciliation. Reflect on relationships in your life that need healing. How can you extend God's love and forgiveness, even in the face of division? Pray for the courage to be a peacemaker in a divided world.
