Do you recognize when Jesus is near?

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This past Sunday, in Luke’s account of the road to Emmaus, we heard of two disciples walking with Jesus and not recognizing Him. That is a profound and puzzling scene. These disciples were not strangers to Him. They had heard His teaching, seen His mighty works, and lived through the grief and terror of His cross. And yet, in their sorrow and confusion, they could not see that the risen Lord was already beside them.

Is that not often our experience as well? We know the promises of God. We know the story of Jesus. And still there are seasons when grief, weariness, distraction, or uncertainty cloud our sight.

But our Lord is patient. He comes near. He speaks. On the road, Jesus opens the Scriptures to those disciples. Then at the table, He takes the bread, blesses it, breaks it, and gives it to them. And there, in the breaking of the bread, their eyes are opened.

That is not only an Easter story from long ago. It is the pattern of the Church’s life even now. The risen Jesus gathers His people. He opens the Scriptures. He makes Himself known in the breaking of the bread. Week after week, this is how He cares for us.

And so, I want to encourage you: be in worship. Not because attendance is a box to check, but because Christ is here for you. He is here to forgive, to strengthen, to steady, and to feed His people with His own life.

Especially in this Easter season, come and receive His gifts. The Lord is risen, and He still makes Himself known among us!

In Christ,

Pastor Danny
