Many questions surround worship these days. Some like contemporary; some like traditional. Let’s look at the possible ways why we ‘argue’ or ‘prefer’ one way or another when it comes to worship. The answers lie in examining who are as humans and who God is as Divine Savior. We will take step back and look at our humanity and what that all entails (culture, language, communication) and then, look at God: how He becomes incarnate and present among us through His gifts.”

  • May - Monday, May 12th starting at 11:00 am
Lunch Menu ($10) chicken stir fry, salad, bread, dessert, drinks

    Speaker: Pastor Danny Eggold

Pastor Danny Eggold will share with us "How We Got the Bible." How did the books of the Bible come to be recognized as Holy Scripture? In this presentation, we’ll walk through the big-picture story of how the Old and New Testaments were received by God’s people, why some writings were included, and others were not, and what Christians mean when we talk about “the canon.” We’ll touch on key moments in the early Church, clarify common misunderstandings (like the idea that a church council “invented” the Bible), and highlight how the Church received the Scriptures as a gift: anchored in the apostles, proclaimed in worship, and trusted because they bear witness to Jesus Christ. Pastor Danny Eggold serves as Senior Pastor at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. He previously served at Grace Lutheran Church (Lafayette, IN), Concordia Seminary Seminary (St. Louis, MO) as an Admissions Officer, Our Savior's Lutheran Church (Springfield, IL), and Immanuel Lutheran Church (Valparaiso, IN). Pastor Danny is married to Lindsey (a daughter of St. Peter's!), and they have been blesssed with four children. Pastor Eggold and his wife are grateful to be part of the St. Peter’s family.

She prayed the day would never come, but when her past comes calling, Melissa James has no choice but to flee. Pursued and living on the run, she finds desparate sanctuary and surprising friendship in Amish country. Part suspense, part romance, A Simple Sanctuary is a compelling story of love tested, the cost of freedom, and the solace found in true community. Based on the best-selling books by Beverly Lewis, A Simple Sanctuary is infused with Blue Gate Musicals' signature blend of humor, heart, and harmonies that make for an uplifting and entertaining evening at the theatre.
