Walk Through Luke, Toward the Manger
As we enter into the season of Advent, we once again enter a time of joyful preparation. We watch, wait, and look for the Light who breaks into our darkness. As we prepare, I want to invite your family into a simple but powerful practice: reading one chapter of the Gospel of Luke each day leading up to Christmas.
Luke contains 24 chapters. If you begin today: December 1, you will finish the entire Gospel on Christmas Eve. And by Christmas morning, you will have walked with Jesus from His promised birth, to His ministry of teaching and healing, to His sacrifice and resurrection that bring us eternal life. What better way to prepare your hearts than to let the whole story unfold day by day?
Some may worry about the time commitment. The first chapter is the longest at 80 verses, but even this chapter takes only about 8½ minutes when read aloud. If you can make it through the first day, the rest will feel wonderfully manageable.
And imagine the blessing: your family gathered together, hearing God’s Word read aloud, sharing a few thoughts or questions, perhaps closing with a short prayer. In a season often filled with noise and hurry, this daily reading gives to your family a rhythm of peace, hope, love, joy, and light. It will not only prepare you for Christmas; it will root your household in the story of the Savior who came for you.
I pray you’ll join us. Let’s walk through Luke and toward the manger together.
