Awaiting the Christ Child: December at St. Peter's

The season of Advent invites us to slow down, lift our eyes to the promises of God, and prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. As Lutherans, Advent is not simply a countdown to Christmas, but a sacred time of repentance, reflection, and hope. This December, St. Peter’s is blessed with many opportunities to worship, gather, learn, fellowship, and rejoice. We pray you will join us as we walk together toward the manger, remembering the One who comes as Savior and King.

Wednesday Advent Worship – 7:00 pm

Each Wednesday in Advent, we gather in the sanctuary for evening worship — a chance to pause midweek, breathe deeply, and rest in God’s promises.

  • December 3 – Vespers: A peaceful, contemplative service of Scripture and prayer that beautifully sets the tone for the season.

  • December 10 – Advent Hymn Sing: Come early at 5:30 pm for the *Sisters in Christ Cookie Swap* in the Cornerstone Room (Register HERE). Bring your family and cookies to share, then join us for a joyful evening of beloved Advent hymns at 7 pm.

  • December 17 – Day School Christmas Program: Held in the gym this year, our middle school students share the story of Christ’s birth through music and Scripture. A treasured tradition each year!

Preschool Christmas Program

Thursday, December 11 at 6:30 pm • Sanctuary

Our littlest ones lift their voices to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Families and congregation members alike are welcome to enjoy this joy-filled evening.

Advent Family Fun Night

A wonderful way to begin the season, hosted by the Family Life Team. Highlights include:

  • Cozy kids’ movie corner
  • Hot cocoa, popcorn, and cookies
  • Christmas pajamas encouraged (wear them to Saturday night worship)
  • A rumored indoor “snowball fight”
  • A quiet room for adults to wrap gifts

Angel Tree donors are welcome to come after worship, bring unwrapped gifts and wrap them on-site before placing them under the tree in the Ministry Center before the Dec 14 deadline.

Adult Choir Christmas Cantata – Sunday, December 14 at 8 & 10:30 am

A cantata is an extended choral work based on a theme. Entitled "Sing with the Angels!" the theme for this cantata is about the angels' important roles in the birth of Christ.

  • Middle School Youth Christmas Party – 3:30 pm

In the school cafeteria and gym — an afternoon of fellowship, games, and Christmas joy.

Meeting at their usual time for Advent fellowship, conversation, and devotion.
