Returned Call

Pastor Adam McDowell • October 7, 2024

From the Desk of Pastor McDowell

Lyndi and I thank you for your prayers as we sought the Lord’s direction for the call extended to me. Guided by the Lord, I have concluded my deliberation.

After speaking with members of St. Paul’s and their pastor, hearing from you all as you have pulled me aside for conversation, and being in deep and fervent prayer with my Lord I am further resolved to attend to my call here at St. Peter’s. I am sure God has more planned for us together.

I am grateful and pray that working alongside Pastor Nate in our callings we can continue to shepherd you as long as the Lord enables us to do so. I also thank Pastor Dancy for the guidance he has brought to St. Peter’s and to me. Likewise, I appreciate the support during this process that I received from our schools’ administrators, Chris, Barb, and Alyssa. I cannot thank the faculty and staff of our St. Peter’s ministry enough for their prayers and advice. Many of the conversations with you, our leaders, and members have been comforting and uplifting. Please, continue to pray for all our church workers in the mission we all work toward together.

Concerning calls and vacancies, there are about 600 congregations looking for a pastor at this point. Please, lift them and St. Paul’s Clay Center, Kansas up in your petitions to God that He may fill their needs. Continue to pray for church workers to be called to the field and for our own young people who are listening to that calling to serve the Lord in churches.

May God continue to bless the ministry He has in store for all of us at St. Peter’s,

Pastor McDowell

A Lifetime of Love
By Pastor Nate Widener July 28, 2025
St. Peter’s Family, My wife Amy and I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for the outpouring of love you have shown us over the last several weeks. This past weekend, my oldest daughter Gwyn was married to our wonderful son-in-law Benjamin Corley, and we couldn’t be happier. But, what made it all the sweeter was seeing so many of your caring and supportive faces in the congregation. Similarly, as you know, just a few short weeks ago I lost my father, Nick Widener, and I cannot express to you the depth of my thankfulness for all of the condolences that you have given me and my family. Your cards are all sitting on the windowsill of my office. Without question St. Peter’s is a loving and caring congregation, and this is part of what makes you so great. Thank you for taking care of us, so that we can also take care of you. May God Bless you, Pastor Nate

As we begin our new preschool year, we will need some supplies. It takes a lot of glue, markers and paint to keep preschoolers busy. Please consider taking a letter or two from our “Giving Tree”. Each letter is labeled with a needed supply item to be donated. Once you have shopped, you can return the item(s) to the tree. Thank you for your generosity as you bless our preschool. You are truly appreciated!
