Sharing the Love of Christ

The Lutheran Foundation (“TLF”) was formed in 1995 with the proceeds from the sale of Lutheran Hospital which generated $136 million. Over the past three decades, TLF has then blessed northeast Indiana by investing over $245 million in regional organizations, churches, and schools. TLF is committed to making an impact with a focus on whole-person health, supporting wellness in body, mind, and spirit.

As a member congregation, St. Peter’s has been very blessed by the grants and services provided by TLF. The church, preschool, and day school have all been recipients of numerous grants over the years. Over the past year, the church has been awarded four grants to support our ministry efforts.

  • 2025 National Youth Gathering – A grant was awarded to help offset costs of sending our youth to the 2025 National Youth Gathering this past summer.
  • 2026 Best Practices for Ministry – Another grant was awarded to help offset costs of sending six of our staff members to the 2026 Best Practices for Ministry Conference in Phoenix, AZ.
  • Heritage Collection – St. Peter’s also received a Lutheran Congregation grant to fund a portion of the Heritage Collection Project. This project is working to preserve and display St. Peter’s historical documents, photos, and memorabilia.
  • Strategic Planning –TLF has made it possible for St. Peter’s to work with Dr. Kurt Senske, author of The CEO and the Board (CPH) on policy-based governance. Thanks to a grant from TLF, Dr. Senske will travel to Fort Wayne in mid-March to assist our Leadership Team in the development of the new strategic plan. While here, Dr. Senske will also consult with our Board of Directors as they implement our new governance.

TLF is a tremendous blessing to St. Peter’s and all of northeast Indiana. Whenever sharing stories with congregations outside our area, it typically is very quickly evident that few have such support and opportunities. This week we praise the Lord for the impact TLF has made and the faithful individuals who have been stewards of these resources.
