Christmas Stories through Music

Everyone loves listening to and singing Christmas carols! This week at St. Peter’s, we have two wonderful opportunities to hear and sing the great carols of Christmas.

This Wednesday, December 10, our Midweek Advent service will be our annual Hymn-Sing. This year’s hymn-sing is entitled “Singing the Nativity Story”. We will experience the story of Christ’s birth through the great hymns and carols of the church, and also learn some of the history behind these hymns. Many hymns and carols are planned for this service, and I’m sure we will be singing a couple of your favorites so you won’t want to miss out.

This Sunday, December 14, at both 8:00 am & 10:30 am, our Adult Choir will lead our services by singing a Christmas cantata. A cantata is an extended musical work based on a theme or story. Our cantata is called “Sing with the Angels!” and speaks about the important work the angels have in the story of Christ’s birth. The Adult Choir members have been working extremely hard the past few months, and we are excited to share our music with you. Join us to hear wonderful music of the season and fill your cup with this season’s melodies.

These will be beautiful services of music to celebrate the coming of our Savior at Christmas. Plan to attend and lift your voice in song along with us. We hope and pray that these services aid in your Advent preparations for the birth of our Savior.
