Christian Education Weekend + Teacher Reception

Pastor Adam McDowell • August 4, 2025

Join us this weekend as we celebrate Christian Education Weekend and welcome back our teachers to their classrooms as well as our newest teacher, Hollie Johnson.

Water, clean water to 2 million people. This month many online content creators are encouraging people to help people receive clean water through #TEAMWATER. Through these content creators, I saw some of the amazing equipment used to desalinate and filter the undrinkable water. It is true many people live in places that water is inaccessible because of the lack of water treatment facilities.

Clean water is a necessity today as it was in Christ’s day. In a similar need, at a well a woman requested from Jesus water so she may never be thirsty. This story is reflected in our education theme this year – Living Water: Never Be Thirsty Again. Based on John 4:14 ~ "But whoever drinks the water that I give him shall never thirst. Unlike physical water that must be cleaned, the spiritual water the Lord gives is already pure and lifegiving.

The Lord gives us this spiritual water in part through those who carry the vocation of teacher. We are so thankful for all of our teachers and we pray for them. In joy we will be dedicating our teachers to this needed work of Christian education this upcoming weekend.

This year is extra special as we commission a new teacher, Hollie Johnson. Hollie begins her vocation as a called Lutheran Teacher as our 6th grade teacher. Please, keep her in your prayers and get to know her at the reception after the 10:30 service.

Thanks be to God that He does give us true, pure, and lifegiving water. And Praise be to God for all of our teachers and the many who support the work of Christian education here at St. Peter’s. May we work together to be a TEAM of LIVING WATER.

A Lifetime of Love
By Pastor Nate Widener July 28, 2025
St. Peter’s Family, My wife Amy and I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for the outpouring of love you have shown us over the last several weeks. This past weekend, my oldest daughter Gwyn was married to our wonderful son-in-law Benjamin Corley, and we couldn’t be happier. But, what made it all the sweeter was seeing so many of your caring and supportive faces in the congregation. Similarly, as you know, just a few short weeks ago I lost my father, Nick Widener, and I cannot express to you the depth of my thankfulness for all of the condolences that you have given me and my family. Your cards are all sitting on the windowsill of my office. Without question St. Peter’s is a loving and caring congregation, and this is part of what makes you so great. Thank you for taking care of us, so that we can also take care of you. May God Bless you, Pastor Nate

As we begin our new preschool year, we will need some supplies. It takes a lot of glue, markers and paint to keep preschoolers busy. Please consider taking a letter or two from our “Giving Tree”. Each letter is labeled with a needed supply item to be donated. Once you have shopped, you can return the item(s) to the tree. Thank you for your generosity as you bless our preschool. You are truly appreciated!
