Monday Night Services to end August 25th
Summer Monday Worship Services Will Conclude for the Season August 25th
I received an email early this summer asking how we were going to schedule a bible study. A simple question tipped a dozen or so dominos involving dates and times, people and locations, and other ministry events. A comment was made that, “This happens every year when we look at September.” Another observation was offered, “Summer is supposed to be our slow season to get ready for the busy fall season, but rolling into September I don’t have time to get ready.” The pressure point is our September Monday worship services.
I sought counsel from our staff at the church and schools, Elders, Board of Directors, and others and all agreed on the challenge presented. What we found is that Monday services in September are nudging out opportunities in our ministry and overloading our staff. We start several things in August: our schools are gearing up, people are returning from vacation, and ministry activities are planned and becoming active. Then we get stuck in a rut in September, stalling because of tight schedules and exhaustion. Another thing to note here is that the attendance at Monday services in September dip to about a third of what we have in July, showing that our congregation is moving away from Mondays back to worshiping on Saturdays and Sundays.
To do the ministry we have planned for St. Peter’s and to support our staff, the 2025 Monday worship services will conclude on Monday August 25th. We will resume our summer worship services in 2026 on the first Monday of June and go through the last Monday in August. We understand that this might be an inconvenience for some, but we hope that this will allow us to serve our congregation as best as possible.
The Lord continue to bless your summer and provide safety for your travels.
