Dress your best, bring the family, get the pic! We'll take care of the rest.

It's exciting to think about who our new Senior Pastor will be. The Call Committee and our Indiana District is hard at work doing their parts, but what can you do right now as part of the congregation?

Action item number one is prayer. We hope you're praying for him and his family through the week. The Call process is complex and somewhat mysterious. Prayer from the congregation both corporately and as individual households is one of the very important parts of this process. Do be a participant in this.

Action item number two is preparing ways he can get to know us... and there are a lot of "us." Putting names to faces takes time, repetition, and a willingness from the congregation to share their information with their pastors. We can take this first step together with a photo of you and your beautiful family. But let's shake things up and start with what we aren't going to do. We aren't setting up individual time slots; we aren't working with expensive photographers; and we aren't going to take two years to print a bound and polished (and likely outdated) directory. We're keeping it simple and using our own volunteers from our very talented congregation to take care of business. (Psst... that's you. Just a couple hours of your time can make a HUGE impact. Be part of the photo team by clicking here and signing up. There are jobs that don't require being a great photographer, and we'll show you exactly what to do.)

Here's how it will work:

On the weekends of April 12-13th (Palm Sunday), April 19-20th (Easter), and April 26-27th (Confirmation) you'll find photo booths around our campus. The booth in the Ministry Center will have a "higher quality" approach. This is good if you have a larger family with several generations. We can take a group picture with everyone and then break the family up into smaller units. You might have to wait in line a tad longer, but you'll get a little more attention when it's your turn. The other booths are our "Fast Track" options. You'll get your picture then off you go! There may still be a line forming, but it will move quickly.

Booths will also be available during the Easter breakfast. So grab a table, have some egg casserole, and then pop in for a photo.

What if I'm not interested in crowds or lines? Great news! Plan to come by the church office from Monday-Thursday, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm and one of us in the office will take a picture for you in the Ministry Center booth.

What will you do with my picture?

  • We'll email the picture to the address you provide. This may take a little time to process, but we want to make sure you get your picture(s).
  • Then we'll upload it to your Realm profile. These pictures will be visible to staff and members who access the electronic directory through Realm.

If you would like access to our member directory (and more). Watch the video below for step-by-step instructions. If you have any issues, just call or email the Church Office and we'll help you troubleshoot.

Until then, "say cheese" for our new Senior Pastor!

News & Notes

You are invited!

I want to share a story, actually several stories. I remember when I was young in Tulsa, Oklahoma and in Fredericktown, Missouri, of going up to the altar rail with my parents and receiving a blessing from my pastor. I remember sticking my head in between the posts on the altar rail and the pastor giving me a blessing. I don't exactly remember the words, but I knew it was important and I wanted that blessing. I remember in confirmation learning about what the pastor was actually saying, what those words actually meant. To understand what God was saying in his scriptures and growing in it. Overall, just being absolutely amazed at what my pastors, Pastor Sean and Pastor Beering were teaching me and knowing God better and just the joyfulness of it. And I remember Lyndi going through confirmation, adult confirmation, with Pastor Schueler in Rosenberg, Texas, and then seeing from her eyes what it meant to be Lutheran, to understand the faith. I had grown up in the Lutheran church, so it was all ordinary for me, but for her it was extraordinary to know and to understand and have that time with a pastor. And I'm so thankful for the pastors in my life and all of the other church workers that have been a part of my life who have helped me to understand who God is. I mentioned in this weekend’s sermon that there's an initiative, a program through the LCMS called Set Apart to Serve. It points out that we have a lack of pastors, teachers, and other church workers. Set Apart to Serve reminds us that the Lord asks us to pray for laborers for the harvest, and I encourage you to pray for laborers for the harvest. To pray for those that teach us who God is and to help us to understand how much we need him. If you happen to know some young people considering church work or being pastors, pray for them, encourage them. God has gifted them to us to answer our questions. Pray fervently that the Lord would send workers into his harvest so that we know him. Keep that in your prayers. I encourage you to look for people who would be good to take God's calling into his church. May the Lord provide workers for His harvest that we may know God and how richly He blesses us. Amen.
