A Letter from Pastor Danny
"Truly, we have much to thank God for in you."
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His steadfast love endures forever!” (Psalm 107:1). These words have been on my heart as my family and I begin our life and ministry with you here at St. Peter’s. From the very first day, we have felt surrounded by your kindness and care. Truly, we have much to thank God for in you.
I am especially grateful to Rev. Nate, Rev. McDowell, Barb Christian, Michelle Leahy, Amy Widener, and Chris Brune for their faithful help and guidance during this first week of transition. They have been a blessing in smoothing the way. My heartfelt thanks also go to Tim Degen, the choir, and the musicians whose gifts made the Installation Service such a memorable and Spirit-filled celebration.
I also want to thank the Call Committee for the faithful work you carried out over many months. Their prayers, time, and dedication prepared the way for me and my family to join you, and I am deeply grateful for the care they showed throughout the process.
Above all, I thank the whole St. Peter’s community. Your prayers, words of encouragement, and generous hospitality have been a powerful reminder of Paul’s words: “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now” (Philippians 1:3–5). Indeed, we are one family in Christ, joined together by His grace.
As we look to the days ahead, I am filled with great joy and anticipation. This weekend, I had the privilege of preaching for the first time here at St. Peter’s, proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for you. I will also be taking up the Thursday noon Bible Classes and eventually the Sunday morning Bible Study, eager to open God’s Word with you and grow together in faith. Much of my early work will also involve listening, learning, and discovering the many ways the Lord has been at work among you already, and discerning together how He is calling us forward.
Please know that I welcome your conversations and input in the days to come. I would love to hear your stories, hopes, and perspectives on the life of St. Peter’s Church & School.
Jesus says, “You will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8). That calling is as true for us today as it was for the first disciples. Together, we will strive to be faithful to this mission, sharing Christ with the world. With His Word at the center and His Spirit guiding us, we can look to the future with confidence and joy, trusting the promise: “He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it” (1 Thessalonians 5:24)!
In Christ,
Pastor Danny Eggold
