Sermon by Pastor Adam McDowell

Day 1: The Seeking God
Reading: Luke 15:1-7
Devotional:
In today's passage, Jesus tells the parable of the lost sheep. Just as the shepherd leaves the 99 to seek the one lost sheep, our God is a seeking God. He doesn't wait for us to find our way back; He actively pursues us in our lostness. Reflect on times when you've felt lost or distant from God. How has He sought you out? Remember, no matter how far you've strayed, God's love compels Him to seek you. Today, rest in the assurance that you are never beyond His reach or His desire to bring you home.

Day 2: Honest Confession
Reading: Psalm 51:1-12
Devotional:
The psalmist's cry, "I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant," echoes the honesty we see in David's confession in Psalm 51. True repentance begins with acknowledging our sin and inability to save ourselves. Today, take time for honest self-examination. What areas of your life have you been hiding from God? Bring these before Him, trusting in His mercy and forgiveness. Remember, God rejoices when we turn to Him in repentance, no matter how far we've strayed.

Day 3: The Joy of Being Found
Reading: Luke 15:8-10
Devotional:
The parable of the lost coin illustrates God's diligence in seeking us and the joy in heaven when we are found. Just as the woman searched thoroughly for her lost coin, God leaves no stone unturned in His pursuit of us. And when we're found, all of heaven celebrates! Today, reflect on the moments you experienced God's saving grace. Rekindle that joy and share your testimony with someone, reminding them of God's relentless love and the celebration that awaits every repentant heart.

Day 4: God's Guiding Word
Reading: Psalm 119:105-112
Devotional:
Throughout Psalm 119, we see the psalmist's deep love and reliance on God's Word. It's a "lamp to our feet and a light to our path." In a world full of distractions and temptations, God's Word keeps us from straying. How often do you turn to Scripture for guidance? Today, commit to spending more time in God's Word. Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate its truths and apply them to your life. Let God's Word be your compass, guiding you back when you start to wander.

Day 5: The Good Shepherd
Reading: John 10:11-18
Devotional:
Jesus identifies Himself as the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep. This ultimate act of love on the cross is how God seeks and saves us. No matter how lost we are, Jesus' sacrifice is sufficient to bring us home. Today, meditate on the depth of God's love demonstrated through Christ. How does knowing you are so deeply loved change how you view yourself and others? Let this love compel you to live for Him and to share His seeking, saving love with those around you who may be lost.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I hope this note finds you well and encouraged in the Lord. St. Peter’s continues to be a place where God is at work through our preschool, school, various ministries, and the daily faithfulness of His people. I am grateful to serve the Lord with you in this place! As we continue to serve together, I want to update you on changes in our church office and ministry staff. As many of you know, Michelle Leahy has been serving as our “Interim Director of Operations,” providing support and coordination across many areas of congregational life. In the coming weeks, Michelle will be stepping into a new role, “Executive Director.” This means her work will shift from hands-on ministry support to more administrative leadership and oversight of the church office, properties, finances, and technology. This is an important step for us as a congregation as we continue to support our staff and serve our members. With this change, we want to ensure that daily ministry needs are met. After reviewing our current staffing and budget, we can make an adjustment that supports the ongoing ministry without increasing costs. To that end, Kami Jo Mogelvang will expand her role to serve as “Church Ministry Coordinator.” Many of you have already seen Kami Jo assisting Pastor McDowell in youth ministry two days each week. Under the new alignment, she will: Continue serving in youth ministry, and Help coordinate ministry efforts and volunteer connections with Pastor Nate and Pastor McDowell across the congregation. This will help us strengthen volunteer support and the many “connecting points” that help our church family care for one another. As Kami Jo transitions out of her receptionist duties, this change will open about 18 hours per week at the front desk, which we have posted. This staffing arrangement stays within our approved 2025 budget. I am thankful for Michelle, Kami Jo, our staff, and all our volunteers. I also appreciate the spirit of grace and partnership that marks our congregation. Please keep our staff and ministry leaders in your prayers as we move through these transitions. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for the privilege of serving Christ with you! In Christ, Pastor Danny Eggold St. Peter’s Lutheran Church & School
