5-Day Devotion

This is a subtitle for your new post

Day 1: The Gift of the Holy Spirit

Reading: Acts 2:1-21

Devotional: On Pentecost, we celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This miraculous event reversed the confusion of Babel, uniting believers in understanding and purpose. The Spirit enables us to have faith, gather as a church, and proclaim God's love to others. Reflect on how the Holy Spirit has worked in your life. How has He empowered you to share your faith? Ask God to fill you anew with His Spirit, that you might be a bold witness for Christ in your daily life.

Day 2: The Blessings of Worship

Reading: Psalm 84

Devotional: The sermon highlighted the many blessings we receive in worship - forgiveness, peace, hope, community, and the opportunity to praise God. Like the psalmist, we should long for God's courts and find strength in His presence. Consider what draws you to worship. Is it primarily to receive, or also to give back to God in praise and thanksgiving? Challenge yourself to approach worship with a heart fully open to both receiving and giving, allowing God's blessings to overflow from your life to others.

Day 3: Praying for the Lost

Reading: Luke 15:1-10

Devotional: We often carry the burden of loved ones who have strayed from faith. Like the shepherd seeking the lost sheep or the woman searching for her lost coin, God relentlessly pursues those who are far from Him. Your prayers matter. They partner with God's heart for the lost. Spend time today praying fervently for those you know who need to return to God. Ask the Holy Spirit to work in their lives and to use you as an instrument of His love and truth.

Day 4: Active in Mission

Reading: Matthew 28:16-20

Devotional: The sermon reminded us that mission is not passive. We are called and empowered by the Holy Spirit to actively share the gospel. Jesus' Great Commission applies to all believers. How can you be more intentional in sharing your faith? It might be through words of encouragement, acts of kindness, or simply being present for someone in need. Ask God to show you opportunities to be His witness today, and for the courage to step out in faith.

Day 5: United in the Spirit

Reading: Ephesians 4:1-16

Devotional: Despite physical separation, all believers are united in one Spirit. This unity transcends time and space, connecting us with fellow Christians around the world and throughout history. Reflect on the beauty of this spiritual connection. How does this truth change the way you view your place in the global church? Pray for Christians facing persecution or hardship, knowing that in Christ, their struggles are also ours. Consider how you can actively promote unity within your local church community.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I hope this note finds you well and encouraged in the Lord. St. Peter’s continues to be a place where God is at work through our preschool, school, various ministries, and the daily faithfulness of His people. I am grateful to serve the Lord with you in this place! As we continue to serve together, I want to update you on changes in our church office and ministry staff. As many of you know, Michelle Leahy has been serving as our “Interim Director of Operations,” providing support and coordination across many areas of congregational life. In the coming weeks, Michelle will be stepping into a new role, “Executive Director.” This means her work will shift from hands-on ministry support to more administrative leadership and oversight of the church office, properties, finances, and technology. This is an important step for us as a congregation as we continue to support our staff and serve our members. With this change, we want to ensure that daily ministry needs are met. After reviewing our current staffing and budget, we can make an adjustment that supports the ongoing ministry without increasing costs. To that end, Kami Jo Mogelvang will expand her role to serve as “Church Ministry Coordinator.” Many of you have already seen Kami Jo assisting Pastor McDowell in youth ministry two days each week. Under the new alignment, she will: Continue serving in youth ministry, and Help coordinate ministry efforts and volunteer connections with Pastor Nate and Pastor McDowell across the congregation. This will help us strengthen volunteer support and the many “connecting points” that help our church family care for one another. As Kami Jo transitions out of her receptionist duties, this change will open about 18 hours per week at the front desk, which we have posted. This staffing arrangement stays within our approved 2025 budget. I am thankful for Michelle, Kami Jo, our staff, and all our volunteers. I also appreciate the spirit of grace and partnership that marks our congregation. Please keep our staff and ministry leaders in your prayers as we move through these transitions. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for the privilege of serving Christ with you! In Christ, Pastor Danny Eggold St. Peter’s Lutheran Church & School
