Sermon by Pastor Adam McDowell

Day 1: Remembering God's Promises

Reading: Luke 24:1-12

Devotional: Today, we focus on the importance of remembering God's promises. The women at Jesus' tomb were reminded by the angel to recall Christ's own words about His resurrection. In our lives, we often forget God's promises when faced with challenges. Take time to reflect on the promises God has made to you through His Word. How can you better retain and recall these promises in times of doubt or fear? Remember that just as Christ's resurrection fulfilled His promise, God is faithful to keep all His promises to us.

Day 2: God's Deliverance in the Face of Giants

Reading: 1 Samuel 17:32-37

Devotional: David's confidence in facing Goliath came from remembering God's past deliverances. When we face our own "giants" - whether they be illness, financial struggles, or personal challenges - we can draw strength from recalling how God has rescued us in the past. Reflect on times when God has delivered you from difficult situations. How can these memories bolster your faith today? Ask God to help you maintain an attitude of trust, even when circumstances seem overwhelming.

Day 3: Standing Firm in Faith

Reading: Exodus 14:10-14

Devotional: The Israelites, trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh's army, were called to remember God's power and stand firm in faith. Often, we find ourselves in situations where we feel trapped with no way out. In these moments, God calls us to trust Him and witness His salvation. Consider a current challenge you're facing. How can you "stand firm" in faith, trusting God to work on your behalf? Pray for the strength to remain steadfast, even when you can't see the way forward.

Day 4: Peace in the Midst of Storms

Reading: Mark 4:35-41

Devotional: Jesus' disciples forgot His divine power when faced with a life-threatening storm. How often do we, too, forget Christ's presence and power in our lives when troubles arise? Reflect on areas of your life where you need to invite Christ's peace. Remember that the same Jesus who calmed the storm is with you in every situation. Ask Him to increase your faith and help you trust in His control over all circumstances.

Day 5: Looking for the Kingdom of God

Reading: Luke 23:50-56

Devotional: Joseph of Arimathea, despite the risks, chose to honor Jesus because he was "looking for the kingdom of God." His actions remind us to prioritize God's kingdom over worldly concerns or fears. Consider areas in your life where you might be hesitating to fully commit to God's ways due to fear or societal pressure. How can you, like Joseph, step out in faith to honor Christ, even when it's difficult? Pray for courage to live boldly for God's kingdom, remembering that our ultimate citizenship is in heaven.
