New Traditions for Spiritual Growth This Advent

Advent is a wonderful season where we look with anticipation for the coming of our Messiah. This is a perfect time to create new traditions with your family that draw you all nearer to your Lord and to one another. Check out some of these Advent activities and choose one to try today.

I Can Hardly Wait for...

Activity kits are available for families to go along with this year's Advent sermon theme. Your family will engage in a different activity each week in Advent. Pick up your kit today in the Ministry Center.

Family Devotions

Printed copies of the Advent devotional, Oh Come Let Us Adore Him, from Lutheran Hour Ministries are available in the Ministry Center or you can download a copy on their website at https://www.lhm.org/advent/.

Activity Booklet

Print a copy of this Christmas Memory & Activity book for each child. Be sure to spend some time talking with your family about how they would answer the various questions.

Jesus Birthday

Host a birthday party for Jesus on Christmas morning. Bake a cake. Sing and blow out candles. You can download and print a birthday card for Jesus here.

Nativity Activities

Do you have a nativity set that the children are permitted to touch? There are a variety of options for child friendly nativity sets.

  • With these pieces, you can have a Progressive Nativity. Place Mary and Joseph across the room and move them closer to the manger during each day of December.
  • Hide the pieces of your nativity and have a treasure hunt. When the pieces are found, talk about each one. You could consider the perspective of each person or animal or the significance they add to the narrative.

A Lifetime of Love
By Pastor Nate Widener July 28, 2025
St. Peter’s Family, My wife Amy and I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for the outpouring of love you have shown us over the last several weeks. This past weekend, my oldest daughter Gwyn was married to our wonderful son-in-law Benjamin Corley, and we couldn’t be happier. But, what made it all the sweeter was seeing so many of your caring and supportive faces in the congregation. Similarly, as you know, just a few short weeks ago I lost my father, Nick Widener, and I cannot express to you the depth of my thankfulness for all of the condolences that you have given me and my family. Your cards are all sitting on the windowsill of my office. Without question St. Peter’s is a loving and caring congregation, and this is part of what makes you so great. Thank you for taking care of us, so that we can also take care of you. May God Bless you, Pastor Nate

As we begin our new preschool year, we will need some supplies. It takes a lot of glue, markers and paint to keep preschoolers busy. Please consider taking a letter or two from our “Giving Tree”. Each letter is labeled with a needed supply item to be donated. Once you have shopped, you can return the item(s) to the tree. Thank you for your generosity as you bless our preschool. You are truly appreciated!
