Big Changes Ahead for Missionaries James & Angie Sharp

Missions Emphasis Month with a New Twist

January is St. Peter’s Mission Emphasis month, and this year will mark over five years we have sponsored our very own missionary family working in Uruguay. Rev. Sharp recently reported that in November his church in Montevideo received 14 youth confirmands, 4 new adult members, and 4 baptized children. Praise God that God’s Word is changing lives in Uruguay!

Pastor Sharp also announced the big change that he and Angie will be moving to San Juan, Puerto Rico, in February, and their missionary work will continue there. This is not a new call, but a reassignment of their current calls to the Office of International Missions as LCMS missionaries. Pastor Sharp will be working to plant a new church in the San Juan area, and Angie will be working on education-based outreach over the whole island.

What will not change is St. Peter’s support of Pastor and Mrs. Sharp. We have learned much about Uruguay over the last years and look forward to seeing how God is at work in Puerto Rico. The Sharps especially need our prayers as they leave the home where they raised their children the past 10 years. All four of their children will be attending high school or college in the U.S. next fall, and they will be about 1700 miles closer to their parents during the school year.

Our special envelopes in January will help the Sharps as they move from Uruguay to Puerto Rico. Be watching for more Mission News this month and into 2025.

A Lifetime of Love
By Pastor Nate Widener July 28, 2025
St. Peter’s Family, My wife Amy and I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for the outpouring of love you have shown us over the last several weeks. This past weekend, my oldest daughter Gwyn was married to our wonderful son-in-law Benjamin Corley, and we couldn’t be happier. But, what made it all the sweeter was seeing so many of your caring and supportive faces in the congregation. Similarly, as you know, just a few short weeks ago I lost my father, Nick Widener, and I cannot express to you the depth of my thankfulness for all of the condolences that you have given me and my family. Your cards are all sitting on the windowsill of my office. Without question St. Peter’s is a loving and caring congregation, and this is part of what makes you so great. Thank you for taking care of us, so that we can also take care of you. May God Bless you, Pastor Nate

As we begin our new preschool year, we will need some supplies. It takes a lot of glue, markers and paint to keep preschoolers busy. Please consider taking a letter or two from our “Giving Tree”. Each letter is labeled with a needed supply item to be donated. Once you have shopped, you can return the item(s) to the tree. Thank you for your generosity as you bless our preschool. You are truly appreciated!
