Chaplaincy Program
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” (1 Timothy 2:1–2)
Dear Friends,
Over a year ago, I was honored to be invited to join the inaugural class of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office Chaplaincy Program. I'm pleased to share that, as of last week, I have officially completed my training.
Very soon, I’ll be serving alongside my fellow Chaplains, supporting the dedicated men and women of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office. Our role is to walk beside Road Officers in their daily duties, offering a listening ear, a steady presence, and spiritual encouragement. Part of that support will include participating in ride-alongs and simply being available in the moments where a caring presence is most needed.
Let me take a moment to say, the job our Officers do every day is incredibly demanding. They step into the most difficult moments life presents, so that we don’t have to. If you see an Officer, please take a second to stop and say, “Thank you.” That small gesture means more than you know.
As Christians, we also recognize that our God is a God of order. He has established the roles of government and law enforcement for the sake of peace, justice, and the well-being of our communities. This past weekend, our Epistle reading from 1 Timothy reminded us of this truth:
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” -1 Timothy 2:1–2
Let us continue to pray for those who protect and serve, and give thanks for the sacrifices they make every day on our behalf.
Peace be with you this week,
Pastor Nate
