Light Bulb

Pastor Adam McDowell • December 9, 2024

LEDs, Mini Lights, C9s, Candles, and even Bubble Lights! I enjoyed the conversations after services debating the best Christmas Lights. Here’s a fun fact for you, the very first electrically lit Christmas tree was in 1882 by the VP of Edison’s Electric Light Company. Now, 142 years later, we have a multitude of ways of lighting Christmas trees for our homes. As I sit close to our family Christmas tree and enjoy its soft glow, I wonder about the work God has done in me. He has changed my heart, He has been my strength, and He has given me comfort through everything.

As you sit close to that Christmas glow in your house whether a Christmas tree, night light, or even a humble candle, remember the ways God has uniquely been in your life and refined you. God works in you every day and will continue to do so, so that you are a welcoming glow to those around you. I wonder, what type of light bulb are you to those around you? Whatever type it is, know this: God does use your unique reflection of His light for His glory. May you shine God’s light for others and also receive His beautiful light from others.

In Christ, the Light of the World.
