Ash Wednesday is March 5th

Pastor Paul Dancy • February 18, 2025

The beginning of March brings in our season of Lent.

The Apostle Peter is the thread connecting each of our 6 midweek Lenten services this year, as well as some Holy Week services, and Sundays before and after Lent. Beginning with Transfiguration Sunday, March 2 and Ash Wednesday, March 5, the Gospel Readings will feature the growing relationship between our Lord Jesus and Simon Peter, the disciple that Jesus called to be “the first among equals” of the twelve. Peter is much like we are, exhibiting emotions of fear, guilt, pride, awe, boldness, confusion, denial, despair, rage, faith, excitement, joy, and hope! Simon was a ‘regular guy,’ and does some goofy things that show he did not always live up to the name Jesus gave him of Peter, the “Rock.” We will see in Peter’s growing faith and understanding of Christ similar issues and situations we go through.

All three pastors and one of our seminary fieldworkers of St Peter’s will be preaching in this series, as we focus on our church’s Name-sake Apostle and his relationship with Christ Jesus, the other disciples, and the Christian Church. Most of the Sundays in Lent and some other Holy Week services will focus on other themes.

Join your spiritual family at St. Peter’s at noon and 7 pm on Ash Wednesday, as the midweek services begin. Make this a season of spiritual growth as we draw closer to our Lord.

A Lifetime of Love
By Pastor Nate Widener July 28, 2025
St. Peter’s Family, My wife Amy and I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for the outpouring of love you have shown us over the last several weeks. This past weekend, my oldest daughter Gwyn was married to our wonderful son-in-law Benjamin Corley, and we couldn’t be happier. But, what made it all the sweeter was seeing so many of your caring and supportive faces in the congregation. Similarly, as you know, just a few short weeks ago I lost my father, Nick Widener, and I cannot express to you the depth of my thankfulness for all of the condolences that you have given me and my family. Your cards are all sitting on the windowsill of my office. Without question St. Peter’s is a loving and caring congregation, and this is part of what makes you so great. Thank you for taking care of us, so that we can also take care of you. May God Bless you, Pastor Nate

As we begin our new preschool year, we will need some supplies. It takes a lot of glue, markers and paint to keep preschoolers busy. Please consider taking a letter or two from our “Giving Tree”. Each letter is labeled with a needed supply item to be donated. Once you have shopped, you can return the item(s) to the tree. Thank you for your generosity as you bless our preschool. You are truly appreciated!
