Sermon by Pastor Nate Widener

Day 1: The Reality of Heaven

Reading: John 14:1-6

Devotional: Jesus' ascension gives us a tangible glimpse of heaven's reality. As we read His words in John 14, we're reminded that our eternal home is not just a comforting idea, but a prepared place. Reflect on how this certainty might change your perspective on daily struggles. How does the promise of heaven impact your current priorities? Today, let the assurance of your heavenly home bring peace to your earthly journey.

Day 2: The Power of Divine Presence

Reading: Acts 1:6-11

Devotional: The disciples witnessed Jesus ascending to heaven, a moment that transformed their understanding of His divine nature. Yet, He didn't leave them alone. Consider the promise of the Holy Spirit in your life. How aware are you of God's presence in your daily experiences? Take time to acknowledge the ways the Holy Spirit guides, comforts, and empowers you. Pray for a heightened sensitivity to His presence today.

Day 3: Living with Eternal Perspective

Reading: Philippians 4:4-7

Devotional: Paul's words remind us that the peace of God can guard our hearts and minds, even amidst life's challenges. This peace stems from our eternal perspective. Reflect on a current difficulty you're facing. How might viewing it through the lens of eternity change your response? Practice entrusting your worries to God today, allowing His peace to permeate your thoughts and actions.

Day 4: The Transformative Power of Joy

Reading: Luke 24:50-53

Devotional: After witnessing the ascension, the disciples returned to Jerusalem with "great joy." This joy wasn't based on perfect circumstances, but on the reality of who Jesus is and what He promised. Consider the sources of your own joy. Are they dependent on external factors, or rooted in your relationship with Christ? Today, intentionally choose joy, praising God for His faithfulness and the hope of eternity.

Day 5: Being Witnesses in a Troubled World

Reading: Matthew 5:13-16

Devotional: As Christians, we're called to be "salt and light" in a world often consumed by fear and despair. Our hope in Christ should shine through our lives, offering a stark contrast to worldly pessimism. Reflect on how your faith impacts your interactions with others. Are there ways you can more intentionally demonstrate the peace and hope you have in Christ? Ask God to use you as a witness of His love and grace in your sphere of influence today.
