A Note from Pastor McDowell
The Answer to Someone's Prayer
Ever wonder how to bring up faith in normal conversation… without sounding awkward?
There are so many of you who have someone on your heart, a friend, a child, a sibling who’s drifted from church. You pray for them, and you wish they’d come back just like Paul prays in the 10th chapter of Romans, “Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.”
Here’s the truth: You might be the answer to someone’s prayer. You might be the one who helps to nourish the faith. But how do you even begin? Here’s the deal, God works through ordinary conversation. Sometimes with coffee in hand, not just a Bible in hand. You don’t need a sermon. You just need to be real. Just say what God has done for you as the Psalmist writes, “Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul.” Ps 66:16
- “Church helped me through a tough season.”
- “I’ve been praying about that too.”
- “God’s peace really held me together last week.”
These simple words can open doors. Because the Holy Spirit is already at work, through you. The Lord said to the Apostles, “The Helper, the Holy Spirit… will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26
Don’t wait for the perfect timing. The Spirit is alive and active, and the mission is NOT passive. You’re not just sitting on the sidelines. You’re part of how God is reaching them. So next time the moment opens... trust the Spirit. Speak the peace you already know and trust.
“You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others.” Matthew 5:14-16
