Sermon by Pastor Adam McDowell

Day 1: Enduring in Christ's Strength

Reading: Philippians 4:12-13

Devotional: Just as the youth at the gathering faced challenges, we too face trials in our daily lives. Paul reminds us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Reflect on a current struggle you're facing. How can you lean more fully on Christ's strength rather than your own? Remember, endurance isn't about gritting your teeth, but about relying on Jesus, the "founder and perfecter of our faith" (Hebrews 12:2). Today, consciously hand over your burdens to Him and draw on His inexhaustible strength.

Day 2: The Joy Set Before Us

Reading: Hebrews 12:1-3

Devotional: Jesus endured the cross "for the joy set before him." That joy was you - His beloved creation. When life feels overwhelming, remember that you are Christ's joy. He delights in you so much that He willingly suffered to secure your eternal future. How does this change your perspective on your current circumstances? Today, list three ways you can "fix your eyes on Jesus" amidst your daily routines. Let His endurance inspire and empower your own.

Day 3: Enduring Together in Community

Reading: Hebrews 10:24-25

Devotional: The youth gathering demonstrated the power of Christian community. We're not meant to endure alone. How can you "spur one another on toward love and good deeds"? Consider reaching out to a fellow believer today - perhaps someone who's struggling or a youth who needs encouragement. Share a word of hope, offer to pray together, or simply listen. Remember, in Christ, we're all part of the "great cloud of witnesses" cheering each other on in faith.

Day 4: God's Presence in Our Suffering

Reading: Isaiah 43:1-3

Devotional: Like the fourth figure in the fiery furnace, God is with us in our trials. He doesn't always remove our suffering, but He promises to be present in it. Reflect on a time when you felt God's presence in a difficult situation. How did that change your experience? Today, practice being aware of God's presence. In moments of stress or pain, pause and remember: "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you." Let this truth be an anchor for your soul.

Day 5: Enduring to the End - Our Eternal Hope

Reading: Revelation 21:1-5

Devotional: Our earthly endurance has a glorious purpose - the new heaven and new earth where God will dwell with us forever. This promise gives meaning to our present sufferings. How does this eternal perspective change how you view your current challenges? Today, whenever you face a difficulty, big or small, whisper a prayer: "This too shall pass, but Your love endures forever." Let the hope of eternity infuse your present with purpose and joy, knowing that one day, God will wipe away every tear.

A Lifetime of Love
By Pastor Nate Widener July 28, 2025
St. Peter’s Family, My wife Amy and I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for the outpouring of love you have shown us over the last several weeks. This past weekend, my oldest daughter Gwyn was married to our wonderful son-in-law Benjamin Corley, and we couldn’t be happier. But, what made it all the sweeter was seeing so many of your caring and supportive faces in the congregation. Similarly, as you know, just a few short weeks ago I lost my father, Nick Widener, and I cannot express to you the depth of my thankfulness for all of the condolences that you have given me and my family. Your cards are all sitting on the windowsill of my office. Without question St. Peter’s is a loving and caring congregation, and this is part of what makes you so great. Thank you for taking care of us, so that we can also take care of you. May God Bless you, Pastor Nate

As we begin our new preschool year, we will need some supplies. It takes a lot of glue, markers and paint to keep preschoolers busy. Please consider taking a letter or two from our “Giving Tree”. Each letter is labeled with a needed supply item to be donated. Once you have shopped, you can return the item(s) to the tree. Thank you for your generosity as you bless our preschool. You are truly appreciated!
