Worship Through It

Let's face it... Winter is stupid!

Those of you who know me well know that I am not a fan of the winter months. I hate to be cold (anything less than 80 degrees), I need sunshine to survive, and I can get really cranky when spring feels too far away. While some winters feel endless, at least we know for certain spring will come, but what about those other challenges in our lives that feel truly impossible?

Just like the seasons we experience each year, we also experience seasons in our lives,

  • seasons when life feels grand and the future feels certain and exciting and
  • seasons when life feels bleak and lonely and hopeless.

Are you in one of those bleak seasons? You may be battling a serious illness, slogging through exhausting treatments, or perhaps living with chronic pain. You may be struggling at work or in your relationships at home. You may be in a season where circumstances feel impossible.

If this describes the season you are in, then my prayers are with you, my friend. I would love to share with you a song I heard recently on the radio. The lyrics spoke to my heart so much that I now listen to it every morning in the car as a reminder. The song is called, "Worship Through It" by Tasha Layton & Chris Brown.

It is easy to praise and worship our Lord when we are in a season of life where we can see our blessings and are excited for our future. Is it as easy when life gets tough? Over and over throughout the scriptures, God reminds us that He is there with us when the seasons are at their worst. He invites us to turn to Him, to rest in Him, and to praise Him.

I love the lyrics of this song. The author chooses to praise God without seeing the answers and to worship through a difficult season. The word "through" to me is important. It implies that this season will have an end and that the worship and praise are continual to the very end.

Listen for yourself through the video below. Here are the lyrics so you can sing along:

This looks impossible
But You're the God of impossible
And I've seen your faithfulness all over my life

I need a miracle
And You're the God of miracles
Some way, somehow You come through every time

I know my God can do it
So, I'm gonna worship through it
Before I see my breakthrough
I'm gonna choose to praise You

I will sing hallelujah to the one
Who can do what the world says can't be done
I know my God can do it
So, I'm gonna worship through it

In the middle of my no way out
In the middle of my don't know how
I hear You whisper to me peace be still

This is why I believe
You will deliver me
You always have and you always will
You always have and you always will

I won't wait til the rocks cry out
I'm gonna praise You
I won't wait till the walls come down
I'm gonna praise You
(Gonna) Lift my hands right here, right now
I'm gonna praise You
Oh God I praise You!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I hope this note finds you well and encouraged in the Lord. St. Peter’s continues to be a place where God is at work through our preschool, school, various ministries, and the daily faithfulness of His people. I am grateful to serve the Lord with you in this place! As we continue to serve together, I want to update you on changes in our church office and ministry staff. As many of you know, Michelle Leahy has been serving as our “Interim Director of Operations,” providing support and coordination across many areas of congregational life. In the coming weeks, Michelle will be stepping into a new role, “Executive Director.” This means her work will shift from hands-on ministry support to more administrative leadership and oversight of the church office, properties, finances, and technology. This is an important step for us as a congregation as we continue to support our staff and serve our members. With this change, we want to ensure that daily ministry needs are met. After reviewing our current staffing and budget, we can make an adjustment that supports the ongoing ministry without increasing costs. To that end, Kami Jo Mogelvang will expand her role to serve as “Church Ministry Coordinator.” Many of you have already seen Kami Jo assisting Pastor McDowell in youth ministry two days each week. Under the new alignment, she will: Continue serving in youth ministry, and Help coordinate ministry efforts and volunteer connections with Pastor Nate and Pastor McDowell across the congregation. This will help us strengthen volunteer support and the many “connecting points” that help our church family care for one another. As Kami Jo transitions out of her receptionist duties, this change will open about 18 hours per week at the front desk, which we have posted. This staffing arrangement stays within our approved 2025 budget. I am thankful for Michelle, Kami Jo, our staff, and all our volunteers. I also appreciate the spirit of grace and partnership that marks our congregation. Please keep our staff and ministry leaders in your prayers as we move through these transitions. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for the privilege of serving Christ with you! In Christ, Pastor Danny Eggold St. Peter’s Lutheran Church & School
