Sermon by Pastor McDowell

Day 1: Known and Loved by God

Reading: John 1:43-51

Devotional: Just as Jesus knew Nathanael before they met, God knows each of us intimately. He is the one who joyfully created you. Reflect on the depth of God's knowledge of you - your joys, sorrows, struggles, and triumphs. How does it feel to be truly known by your Creator? Consider how this understanding of God's intimate knowledge can deepen your trust in Him. Today, rest in the assurance that you are fully known and deeply loved by God.

Day 2: The Blessing of God's Presence

Reading: John 2:1-11

Devotional: Jesus' first miracle at Cana demonstrates God's desire to bless us abundantly. Sometimes, like the wedding hosts, we may feel our resources are depleted. Yet God often works in unexpected ways to provide for us and bless us. Reflect on times when God has surprised you with His provision. How can you cultivate a heart of gratitude for both the extraordinary and ordinary blessings in your life? Today, look for ways God is blessing you and others around you.

Day 3: Cleansed and Renewed

Reading: John 13:1-17

Devotional: Jesus' act of washing His disciples' feet is a powerful image of His cleansing love. We all carry burdens of guilt and shame, but Christ offers us complete cleansing and renewal by His sacrificial death on the cross. Meditate on areas in your life where you need Christ's cleansing touch. How can you embrace and extend this cleansing love to others? Consider how you might serve someone today in a humble, Christ-like manner.

Day 4: Walking in the Light

Reading: John 8:12-20

Devotional: Jesus declares Himself the light of the world, inviting us to walk in His light rather than darkness. This light reveals truth, exposes sin, and guides our path. Reflect on areas of your life where you might be avoiding God's light. How can you more fully embrace Christ's light in your daily walk? Today, ask God to illuminate your path and give you courage to step out of any darkness into His marvelous forgiving light.

Day 5: Loving One Another

Reading: John 13:31-35

Devotional: Jesus gives us a new commandment - to love one another as He has loved us. This love goes beyond mere affection; it's a sacrificial, knowing, blessing, and cleansing love. Reflect on how Christ has loved you in these ways. How can you extend this kind of love to others in your life? Consider one practical way you can demonstrate Christ-like love to someone today, whether through understanding, blessing, or forgiveness.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I hope this note finds you well and encouraged in the Lord. St. Peter’s continues to be a place where God is at work through our preschool, school, various ministries, and the daily faithfulness of His people. I am grateful to serve the Lord with you in this place! As we continue to serve together, I want to update you on changes in our church office and ministry staff. As many of you know, Michelle Leahy has been serving as our “Interim Director of Operations,” providing support and coordination across many areas of congregational life. In the coming weeks, Michelle will be stepping into a new role, “Executive Director.” This means her work will shift from hands-on ministry support to more administrative leadership and oversight of the church office, properties, finances, and technology. This is an important step for us as a congregation as we continue to support our staff and serve our members. With this change, we want to ensure that daily ministry needs are met. After reviewing our current staffing and budget, we can make an adjustment that supports the ongoing ministry without increasing costs. To that end, Kami Jo Mogelvang will expand her role to serve as “Church Ministry Coordinator.” Many of you have already seen Kami Jo assisting Pastor McDowell in youth ministry two days each week. Under the new alignment, she will: Continue serving in youth ministry, and Help coordinate ministry efforts and volunteer connections with Pastor Nate and Pastor McDowell across the congregation. This will help us strengthen volunteer support and the many “connecting points” that help our church family care for one another. As Kami Jo transitions out of her receptionist duties, this change will open about 18 hours per week at the front desk, which we have posted. This staffing arrangement stays within our approved 2025 budget. I am thankful for Michelle, Kami Jo, our staff, and all our volunteers. I also appreciate the spirit of grace and partnership that marks our congregation. Please keep our staff and ministry leaders in your prayers as we move through these transitions. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for the privilege of serving Christ with you! In Christ, Pastor Danny Eggold St. Peter’s Lutheran Church & School
